Search Engine Optimization – Practice SEO Today
For any amateur internet marketer, search engine optimization can be considered a tedious, nitty-gritty task. Some seasoned internet marketers actually perceive SEO the same way amateurs do. This explains why there are other methods of internet marketing. So what makes SEO intimidating? Do you want to know how to perform the right SEO on your site today?
Search engine optimization is one of the lucrative business ideas I have explored. I’ve seen some SEO gurus enjoying a regular profit not less than a thousand bucks a month doing nothing but updating some codes and adding some links for a client website. With the Panda update, SEO business has changed forever. Gone are the days when you need to know the complex codes and tricks to increase online popularity. If you want to start practicing SEO, here are simple ways to do it:
Start a blog – there are several blogging networks which can help you learn the ropes by giving you a free website. One of these sites is WordPress. It has a user-friendly interface which is relatively easy to use if you’re a beginner. WordPress has some great Plugins that will help you with your SEO.
Think of a niche – by identifying a niche to invade, you simply position yourself in a safe place on the internet. If you choose a general niche and theme for your blog, the competition can be a bit steep. Research a niche that interests you and identify the traffic coming in to it. If it’s popular enough and the competition is reasonable, go for it.
Start writing content – Once you know for sure which niche to invade, it will be easy to determine the topics that you will be writing about. With the keywords on hand, you can start writing content on your blog. With blogs, you won’t even need to submit your site to directory listings and other sites that encourage new websites to join for a fee.
Focus on usability – While keyword optimization will help your blog rank well on search engines, focusing on it too much may compel you to stuff your posts with keywords. Make sure to focus more on usability and not on keywords density. I would usually outline my thoughts along with the keywords before I write anything so when the post is written; make sure keywords are in their proper places and not exaggerated.
Once your blog is up and running, you can start monitoring your ranking on your favorite search engines using the keywords you have identified as relevant to your business. You can also monitor a post; whether it has been indexed by simply typing its full URL into the search box of the search engine you are using.
Starting a blog is a great way to learn how SEO works. As mentioned numerous times here, the Panda update has changed the face of SEO today. With its focus on quality content, website owners need not bother with codes and other time consuming strategies in their search engine marketing campaign. Focus on Quality Content and use the right keywords, at an acceptable ratio!
